If these pictures don’t explain why you should buy and support local, I don’t know what will. Both of these bowls of pecans are uncooked, “ready to use” nuts. On the left are pecans I purchased at the store. I was in a hurry and grabbed them “just in case” I didn’t have enough for thanksgiving recipes. To me, in the picture, they look roasted. They are small and hard and dry and while I could “make do” and cook with them, they aren’t something I would eat alone.
ON THE RIGHT are pecans from The Pecan Guy in Little Rock, AR. These nuts are almost twice the size, MUCH fresher, and 10x’s more flavorful than store bought. I ended up hiding them from my family so that I would have some to cook with!
I’m sure the farmers there could explain all of the science behind why theirs are head and shoulders above the store’s; but the pictures alone are enough for me to make the effort to get them from the farm! Support local. Make the effort. 100% recommend The Pecan Guy in Little Rock!
